Ski schools and ski courses in Zell am See

Zell am See perfectly joins the topics mountain, lake and city. The city in the Salzburg area is located on a peninsula directly on the shores of lake Zell and at the foot of the Schmittenhöhe railway which brings you directly to the viewpoint on the mountain. The gondola, specially designed by Porsche Design, brings you to the breath-taking panoramic views high on the mountain and directly into pure skiing pleasures. There awaits 77 km’s of slopes, top modern lifts and many ski huts and mountain inns. The Schmittenhöhe is one of the family-friendly ski areas in Austria with its kid’s land ‘Kids slope’ and the ‘dragons park’ as well as the ‘Schmidolin kid’s club’. Schmidolin is the mascot of the ski resort, a very nice dragon which is very popular among the little ones.

To also offer adults enough variation whilst skiing, there is a 1,3 km long Funslope with tunnels, waves and steep turns, a Snowpark with 12 obstacles for Freestyle skiers, a jukebox-gondola, the Audi ski run racetrack and much more. Night skiing is of course, also possible because you cannot get enough of such a great ski area. There is something special for the early birds: with the ‘Ski ‘n’ Brunch’ offer you can, on selected dates and by appointment, be on the mountain from 7 o’clock, where you can enjoy a rich breakfast and then carve the first turns on a freshly groomed slope. A unique experience that every ski enthusiast must have participated in.

The local pro-skiers will show you how skiing is fun. Regardless whether you are a small or a big beginner, advanced skier or snowboarder, returning skier or a pro, the highly trained ski instructor and snowboard instructors will help you with tips and tricks and will help you optimise your technique step by step in the ski courses. Together with them, you will become an absolute ski star and conquer every slope, even the feared ‘Trass’ downhill run – the black slope with an incline of 70%!

Cross-country skiing is possible in Zell am See on the night trail which is lit until 10 pm. Winter and snow shoe hikers will find designated routes in the village as well as on the Schmittenhöhe. Opposite Zell am See there is a whole mountain especially for ski touring, the Ronachkopf. The 2,5 km long ski tour covers an altitude of 500 m and at the end of the tour, you will not only find a breath-taking view but also the Enzianhütte for some small refreshments.

Zell am See has something special for art-lovers: across the mountains, artists have created oversized sculptures and objects in 5 symposia, which is now one of the largest open-air art spaces in Europe.

And it is also not far from the Kitzsteinhorn glacier; in about 20 minutes by car you are directly at the valley station of the gondola.
