St. Johann and Alpendorf im Pongau are nestled between 600 and 800 m above sea level in the Salzach valley. On the Gernkogel in Alpendorf you can find the top ski area, which is well known for it’s snow security. Alpendorf is located in the middle of Ski amadé and forms, together with the neighbouring resorts of Wagrain and Flachau the ‘3-valley connection of Snow Space Salzburg’.
Start your ‘ski-safari’ with a ski guide from your ski school and you will have a guaranteed unforgettable and eventful day on the 120 km’s of connected slopes in Snow Space Salzburg. For the sporty and advanced skiers, the ‘Trio Infernale’ awaits, which are 3 black slopes, which together, provide the optimum thrill. The 520 m long racetrack with 15 gates is also very popular among the advanced skiers. At the Ski Movie Salzburg you compete against any opponent whilst being filmed. This way you can analyse your skiing style perfectly.
St. Johann – Alpendorf offers families the Geisterberg, the large kid’s paradise on the mountain with witches and ghosts, Krampusses and the ‘devil’s route’. But do not worry, all figures on the Geisterberg are very sweet.
If you are a snowboarder or a Freestyle skier, you can eat your heart out at the ‘Snowpark Alpendorf’ and perfect your stunts. 30 different elements are spread out over a roughly 1 km long slope and split up into 2 parts – the Funslope for beginners and the advanced park for the real pros.
A smaller ski area awaits you in the centre of St. Johann, the ‘Hahnbaum’ with 7 km’s of slopes. Perfect for all ski and snowboard beginners!
