Ski schools and ski courses in Obsteig, Tyrol!

Obsteig, the westernmost community of the Mieminger Plateau, consists of scattered villages and hamlets.

The village is a popular starting point for hikes and excursions, for example to the castle gorge between Obsteig and Fronhausen. In the past, the castle was used as a sentry for the Mötz transport route, and was then introduced as "Schloss Sonnenstein" in the TV series "Der Bergdoktor" (The Mountain Doctor).

From Schloss Klamm, a short path leads to the 25 m high waterfall of the Klammbach. The larch meadows near Obsteig are also a popular destination for excursions, which extend up to the 1,129 m high wooden ladder saddle. Since 1981 they are under nature conservation. These two sights are also depicted in the municipal coat of arms: The black wall crown represents Schloss Klamm, and the green coniferous tree symbolizes the beautiful larch meadows. In Obsteig itself the parish church is worth seeing. It was built between 1760 and 1780 and is dedicated to St. Joseph.

The beautiful frescoes, the altarpiece and the carved figures are by artists from the surrounding area!

Obsteig also has a small family ski area which stretches up to 1.500 m altitude on the slopes of the Grünberg. The ski instructors of the ski school Obsteig will be pleased to show you the first turns or help you to improve your skills. In addition, there are 40 km of winter hiking trails and numerous cross-country ski runs through the snow-covered landscape.

If it should be something special, we recommend a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride! In summer, however, a lift takes you up into the beautiful mountain world and thus to the starting point for numerous hikes. The hiking trails of Obsteig, such as the via ferrata Wankspitze, have even been awarded the "Tyrolean mountain trail seal of approval". An indoor swimming pool, two tennis courts and riding facilities round off the active offer.
